Wanna do the Utah Valley Marathon???

WORKOUT:
4.4 mile run
15 min elliptical
1 hour pump class

It was WARM this morning! It's time to start taking a water bottle with me on my runs again. I planned to run longer but I was feeling dehydrated so it got cut a little short. I will be guzzling some water today!

I had a good leg workout on Saturday and then in pump today we hit the legs for the majority of class. My inner thighs are FEELING it. Whew! But in a totally good way. ;)

For those of you who have been asking... No... I will not be running the Utah Valley Marathon like I have been planning on. Tear.
Why?

1. Achilles Tendinitis recovery. I DON'T mess around when there is ANY sort of injury. Yes I am running again and feeling good so far, but I am keeping my mileage low and KNOW that if I decided to bust out a race it would definitely be back. Running in general is much more important to me than kicking out another marathon. I am going to continue to GRADUALLY up my mileage and take care of any sensitive muscles. I have learned the hard way before that pushing your body and ignoring when it is trying to tell you something only leads to a more serious injury and a MUCH longer recovery time. No gracias.
2. I have been weak sauce like a grandma lately. My energy is coming back and I don't feel as ridiculously exhausted all the time from the Candida Diet like I have been for the past 3 weeks. That being said, during that time my workouts were not what I would call up to par for race training. I had to scale things back and accept from my body that it needed a less intense workout for a while because it was busy fighting other things off. Take THAT Candida! This has taken some humility on my part. When you are used to busting out heavy weights and cardio and then you feel spent after doing the eliptical for 45 mins and end up doing about 1/2 of your normal weight routine... you realize you aren't a super hero. So I cut myself some slack and upped my REM cycles instead.
3. Fueling. Now even if I decided that I was going to completely forget reasons 1 & 2 and be an idiot and go try to run it anyway, I really couldn't fuel myself. No carbs, sugars, fruit etc etc??? Try running a marathon while munching on a head of broccoli while you run. THAT would be pretty amazing. But there is no way in heck I would ever do a race without being able to get some sugar in my system in one form or another. So basically I would pass out and die trying. Not worth it.

4. And now for the most important reason of all - This summer I am concentrated more than anything on healing my body. Healing my digestion, listening to any injured or strained muscles that may come up and hopefully being able to have a baby soon. Yeah you read that right... I am sharing the mother load here. Ben and I have been married for 4 years. We have been available and hoping to get pregnant for the last 2 years. I have been working with specialists and though they can't find anything WRONG with me, we still haven't been able to make any progress on it. So my first priority is to get my body back in whack for my digestion ridiculousness, no matter how much longer I have to eat broccoli for breakfast... and once that is conquered put all my focus on starting our family. I can't help but think there is some connection between these two.
Are you SEEING my chubby niece's legs? I need one of these stat.
I LOVE to race, it has been really hard for me to tell people that I am not going to do this one... and to resist signing up for anything else in the mean time. I need to wait and see how things go, how my body reacts and hopefully begins to heal. Everything else is really second to that. In the mean time I plan to enjoy everyday that I get to go out and run and enjoy it for exactly what it is to me. A release, time to meditate and feel alive and because it makes me happy! No stressing about racing or competing with others. There are so many other aspects of fitness that I enjoy besides just running and racing that I plan to enjoy them as well in the mean time.

So ALL that being said... I have an open race entry! The Utah Valley Marathon is currently sold out, so if you want to get in you would have to get someone else's bib number. I absolutely LOVE this race and the course last year when I did it before was REALLY enjoyable! Great race organization and LOVED every mile!

My entry it up for grabs! If anyone is interested in snagging it leave me a comment and let me know! I paid about $80 for my race entry, so if you wanted to split it with me and throw $40 my way that would be pretty great of you. ;)

But really it's a fabulous race and I know about a million other friends running it so you will have lots of great company! Friends... I will miss getting to run with you! Tear... again. :(

Enough of that... ;)
